Shabby Goodness Meets Fancy Fold

Happy Friday to you all.....
can you believe April is almost gone.....
time really does fly it seems....
today I have a bit of "shabby goodness" to share with you.....
I made a "two way" open card......
what is so neat about this, is that the flower holds it all shut.....
this week at Sugar Creek Hollow, the challenge was to make a "Fancy Fold" card
I used to make this style of card a few years back and it was fun to recreate with it again....
the cardstock is SU Marina Mist......the Designer Paper I am in love with...
it is Beau Chateau also from SU....
the flower is Prima
the shabby seam binding ribbon is some I made with Tattered Angels Spray....
The little bird is from KC Company...it came from Joann's, and they have a wonderful new line of the shabby little cutouts.....

Butterfly Butterfly ~

This week the challenge at Joan's Gardens is butterflies~Scallops or Lattice~yellow or gold, and pattern paper background....
I had fun making my butterflies....I stamped with Versamark on Vellum cardstock, embossed with a white embossing powder.....
the half butterfly is a new stamp from Technique Tuesday called "Take Flight".....
the bigger butterfly is from an old stamp I have had "forever"!
My flowers are still wet with stickles, they will look  better (I hope) when dry...
I used the Sizzix 3D die for them...
for my scallops I used two new products I just received from Joan last week.....
Spellbinders Classic Edges One and JustRite Classic Lace Edges One.....
I also wanted to mention some exciting news......
I entered Joan's challenge for a spot for a guest designer for a blog hop on May 15th....
and guess what.....I MADE it.....
I can hardly wait to see what we will be creating.....

Grandma's Attic

I just received this new JustRite background stamp from Joan's Gardens called
"Grandma's Attic"
It is so vintage and detailed.....
I just love it...
I had intended to tie a small scissors charm on, but for the life of me couldn't find it
so had to settle for the glitter heart.....
I stamped the image on some designer paper and then machine stitched around it.....
the sentiment is hand stitched with a varigated thread.......

Felt Flower Fun

I had the bright idea today to try and use one of the Cheery Lynn dies to cut felt.....
I used Cuties 2 and it cut like a dream........
the felt I used was a good quality I bought from a local quilt store.....
my only hint is, that since the felt is thicker then paper, it is picky to work with....
but I just glued a bit as I rolled the flower......
I am entering this for my last entry in the Joan's Garden challenge....
to make a flower with a punch or die....
and also in the Cheery Lynn Challenge to use a cheery Lynn die.....
the doily die is my very first one I purchased from Joan.......
both it and the leaf (flower stacker 1 leaf) are Cheery Lynn dies, too

the sentiment is one from Nichole Heady at Papertrey Ink
.

Happy Mother's Day Card

I am way ahead of the game for Mother's Day....
so unusual for me, as I am a "go by the seat of my pants" type of gal....
it almost scares me...lol!!
I made this card using a bit of lace trim that I received from Flourishes....
oh my, isn't it beautiful??
I gathered around the edge and sewed it together to create my flower....
The sentiment is also from Flourishes.....

the challenge is a bingo card.....
I used blue (the tiny bling) flowers (my lacey flower) and emboss....
you can scroll on down to see the card I made for my Mom for her birthday on May 6th.....

Casual Fridays Simple Sketch CFC49

Just a simple card I made with the sketch from Casual Fridays.....
a very simple card using the Tim Holtz film strip ribbon and a camera stamp....

For Mom

I have to tell ya...I LOVE how this card turned out.....
I also LOVE these dies...
I could sit and make dozens of these tiny gorgeous little flowers...
in every color....in fact, I think I will!!!
I used 4 different Cheery Lynn flower dies.....
Cuties 1~2~3 and the minature rose die.....
I also made my own inked seam binding in the lovely teal blue using some Tattered Angels
spray mist.....
it's a bit hard to see, but I made a "doily pocket"
for the flowers.....
This card is for my Mom for her 85th birthday on May 6th...
I know she is going to love it.....
I am entering this in the flower challenge at Joans Gardens
and also in the for Mom challenge at the Cheery Lynn Designs blog....
and in The Shabby Tea Room "April Showers"
and all these dies were and can be purchased from Joans Gardens if interested!!

Prom Dress Gift Box

My 17 year old granddaughter is going to her first prom this year.....
I will probably be out of town for the day of her prom.....
So I got this bright idea to give her a little keepsake from her pappa and I...
I made this little prom dress box to put a little gift in.....
I made the flowers using a cheery lynn die...and my wonderful flower tools...
which I did take a picture of, but am having camera issues....
It may not look like it, but I worked each layer of flower to soft and slightly curl the petals....
it took me off an on most of the afternoon to make these.....
I am entering this in the challenge at Joan's Garden this week  to use a die or punch to make flowers.....
wish you could see it in person...it is really very pretty!!

Charmed I'm Sure With A Hint of Pink

Took a break from my Spring cleaning to relax and make a card.....
.I saw several days ago at City Crafters the challenge was black~white~grey and a hint of pink

and  the challenge at Simply Less Is More is to use a charm.....
I usually don't like to combine challenges as my poor confused mind can't seem to "get it".....
but while driving into town for some groceries I dreamed up this card.....
I cut out a silhoutte, and added a "real" sterling silver tea pot charm.....
I used to make jewelry and have a bunch of these tiny charms around....
You might ask "Where is the grey?"...well its the silver charm of course!!

If interested and you scroll down to my post below, you can see I joined a garden party (a linky party)
below and yu can see a bit of my home and flowers...thanks!!

Garden Party With A Few of My Helpers

While cruising around in "blogland, I came across a post at Laurie Anna's Vintage Home about a "Garden Party" today...I don't have alot blooming right now, being in Michigan, and after several nights of hard frost...but I am such a HUGE fan of gardening, I just had to join in! I took my kitty cats, and we went on a "tour" to see what we could find.....

First up is my tree peony....it has just 2 blooms so far, with a few more on the way

Next is a gorgeous purple lilac I grew from a mere stick of a start, it smells so good and I can smell it from afar!!

I have several "Basket of Gold"...I just love these as they are so delicate and try and add a few more each year....

I have included a picture of our home with a beautiful Dogwood in bloom....

While taking photos I noticed "our" ducks at the creek, they come back year after year, it's probably been 10 or more years they have been returning...always 2 Mr Ducks and a Mrs....hmmm....Mr Duck was interested in watching my hubby mow!

The next two photo's are of my garden helpers  Soot and Kitty Witty.....they are a great help when I am weeding, they like to scare the bejeebers out of me, by hiding in the plants and then either swishing their tails so I think it is a snake (they are lucky they still have tails) or leaping out at me....the little monsters!!

My last photos were taken on April 18, 2011.....I won't even comment as the pics tell it all!!

Cute LIttle House Mouse

Do you belong to Pinterest??  I have over 13,000 pins...sounds like I am am on it alot...but not really...right now I am reorganizing my boards, as they have become too big...a slow process...but will be worth it in the end.....I made a wonderful pretzel-strawberry pie from Pinterest for Easter......it was so yummy...I made it in a springform pan as I wanted to put it on a cake stand...it turned out beautiful!  It can be made in a 13 x 9 pan, too...we just had my Mom here, but 8 of my Grandchildren came, and they devoured it...good thing, as my hubby wouldn't even try it...and I would of had to eat it all by myself!
If you click on my Pinterest button, it will take you to my boards.....I have all my card inspiration boards reoganized...lots of eye candy there!
Do you have lots of papercraft supplies?  Some that you just had to have, but haven't had the time to use??  I do, and I hoard it all...lol.....but I was thinking of , once a week to zero in on something to work on...maybe my Cricut...or my Mixed Media...I have bought tons of supplies for that and haven't done one thing yet.....have about 5 mini albums uncompleted...I think you get the picture.....so once a week, I will post what I have been using.....keep in mind I also sew...and have numerous uncompleted projects for that, too......
Now on to my little House Mouse......I had wanted this stamp from when it first came out around 2009...why I never bought it, I am not sure.....but last week while in Hobbylobby, I noticed they had an entire new line of House Mouse out, and this stamp was gone......I went straight to their clearance section...and there he was...marked down...only one...it was meant to be...lol...
I colored him with my Copics, the butterfly is red foil paper, but my camers did not pick it up too well...the "Best Wishes" stamp came in a set of 5 I picked up yesterday, also on Clearance.......hope this wasn't too  long a post........

Winter In Spring

I have been so busy this Spring.....
cleaning out my many flower beds.....
the days have been gorgeous....
until now.....
my "would be" at some point Hydrangeas froze.....
after last night (and tonights prediction of 28 degrees), I am sure there will be more damage.....
Winter In Spring is just not "right".....
anywho....
I created this card last week....

it's the last thing I have had time to work on....
it is going into the the "Sugar Creek Hollow" challenge "florals"....
I made my rick-rack flower using one of my new "Glubbers" BIG glue dots.....
the center f the flower is a vintage button.....
I have so many new things to use, its a little overwhelming.....
what I need is "more time".....
also wanted to mention I was "honored" to have my card from my previous post.....
as part of "the cream in our coffee" at The Play Date Cafe.....
I am taking a little "mini" vacation...see you when I get back!!

A Splash of Brown PDCC125

The challenge at the Play Date Cafe this week is....
black~white~and a "splash" of brown....
I wish you could see this card "in real life" so to speak...
it is so pretty!!
I sewed around the edges of my background paper.....
made my flower with a EK Success flower punch....
the "swirls" behind it are from a Maryanne die....
my butterfly, which happens to be my splash of brown was cut out of white cardstock...
and then inked with a VersaMMagic Dew Drop "Sahara Sand chalk ink...
the die for the butterfly is from Cheery Lynn...
the color combo reminds me for some reason of an old joke from grade school...
"What is black and white and read all over?"
Answer:  a newspaper...silly hmmm!!!
