A Gift For Amy

This week at City Crafters the challenge is to make a gift.....
I made this gorgeous owl banner for my niece Amy that has a baby due in August...
and bet you can guess the baby's name and gender...."Lexie"
The pink and sunshine yellow colors are the wall colors of the room....
She has a love of owls...so this banner was perfect for her...
I cut the entire thing on my Cricut using the shadow feature for the owl,
it took me about 2 days to complete it....
but there was alot of cutting, layering and tying of ribbons.....
It's pretty big, as the largest scallop square was cut at 7 1/2"....
whoops...I did cut the owls belly from a Spellbinders die....
and look at those feet on the owls...bling!!

I am big into making banners, as my daughter uses them in her photography business...

and Mr Snapping Turtle meandering down the "almost" dried up creek...so sad!

This week City Crafters has a super fun challenge
"Time After Time"
and an inspiration photo you can see HERE ....
I really went with the photo and used my new TH die called "Tick Tock"....
the face of the clock is also from a TH paper pack.....
I cut the hand with some glitter paper and the base of the clock with a foil paper....
the background on the card is stamped with SU Going Gray, (isn't that a pretty gray?)
The background stamp is Impression Obsession Cover A Card "Bricks"
My flower is also a TH die "Tattered Flower Garland and made with TH paper
called "Vintage Shabby"...yummy!!

I loved this challenge and had so many different clocks I could of used.....
Aren't there so many wonderful "things" out there for us to buy
for our creative addictions...wow...so much I want.....
I have tons of new things to use if only I had more time...sigh!!

Skating Party

I made this simple~cute card for a granddaughter's 6th birthday that was having a skating party!
I cut the skate on my Cricut...
using my Gypsy to "weld" it together....
not too fancy...but perfect for the occassion!

I am entering this in the weekley challenge at "Joan's Gardens"
to make a card for a child!!
Take a peek at my other post today below this one...thanks!

Fun In The Sun

This week  at "The Krafty Girls" the challenge is "Fun In The Sun"....
create a project that is fun in the sun to you....
I choose to make a "jeep" card....
my hubby and I have an old jeep from the early 50's that his Dad bought new....
it has its original 24,500 miles on it.....
we don't go "jeepin" in it, but we do go and visit friends in it....
he has the top off and we get lots of sun...and lots of fun!!
I cut the jeep with my Cricut and made the "sun" from ribbon scraps!!

I also am sharing a photo of 2 of my grandchildren in it.....
little 6 year old Kendall "driving" her 9 year old brother Adison....
I love photo's that are caught without the kids knowing you are taking them....
"Pappa" gives driving lessons to them (they never get out of first gear)
using a clutch on the farm property here....
they think it is such a big deal.....
grinding gears and all!
I am going to turn this card into an anniversary card for my hubby today :>)

Red ~ White ~Blue

We just returned from our trip to our "North" home.....
I love it there....
the sound of the Great Lake just lulls you to sleep....
we are headed back the week of the 4th...

Anywho, while I was gone, my card in the post below won in the Cheery Lynn Designs challenge...
how exciting...
it is so fun to win random,
BUT, when it is actually selected amongst all the other beautiful entries,
it is REALLY exciting!!
I won a $20 spending spree at Cheery Lynn
THANKS Cheery Lynn!!!

I am entering this card into the new challenge at Cheery Lynn Designs
red ~ white ~ blue
I used a Cheery Lynn die called Bow and Bell (DL163).....
though, the die comes with it's own bow die....
I chose to use a red, white, and blue ribbon I had...
I used TH ink on my embossing folder, then ran it thru, and a piece of scrap paper
for the background....
a SU star punch with my God Bless America stamp to finish it off!!

Also want to share my "yard art" "Totem" I made...
I saw the idea on Pinterest.....
it cost me about $5 to make....and I have one more "in progress"

Well, the baby shower I hosted is over....
I forgot to take pictures of most of it...ugh....
I so wanted to share it with you.....
I have a few I will share later...
but after a much needed break, I decided to work on a few challenges...
and take the day off ~ doing what I want
I made a beautiful card for two challenges....
for Joan's Gardens, the challenge being
pink and white
use a die for a cut out
use leaves to embellish
an embossing folder

and for Cheery Lynn Designs, the challenge being
roses...

I used pretty in pink cardstock from SU....
and my latest Cheery Lynn Die
Window Frame A (FRM 141)
Miniature Rose Die (B152)
a Marianne Creatables Die Leaves (LR0226)...all may be purchased from Joan's Gardens
and an embossing folder that is a Tim Holtz alterations....
the roses were cut with the same SU paper, I just sprayed them with Tattered Angels...

Inspire

Ballet~Dance Recitals~Inspire~Ballerina's

I had the great pleasure of going to see 4 of my grandchildren perform at a Dance Recital Saturday night.....

What fun....and what a surprise to see this week's challenge at the
it is "Coppelia" .... include a ballerina in your project....
I made my card with the beautiful Melissa Frances paper "5th Avenue"....
I framed my ballerinas....
added a gorgeous Prima flower...I usually make all my own flowers,
but who can resist Prima flowers??
the stems and leaves were cut with my newest dies from Marianne
the word "Inspire" is a rubon from SU I have had forever!!
I punched it out with an oval SU punch....

I wanted to share one picture of 2 of my granddaughters and their troupe
taken at my house a few hours before the recital....
they are the 2 on the bottom left.....aren't they sweet??

I have been very busy getting ready for a baby shower I am giving my niece on Sunday
I will be back after the shower to show you what I have been working on....
I spent all day and most of the evening making decorations....
and they turned out beautiful!!

Birds and Blooms

This week the challenge at Joan's Gardens is
use a branch & leaves
use a bird
use blue
use a frame of some type
Okay, this might be stretching it a bit, but I used a "door" frame....
the door die is from Cheery Lynn Designs...isn't it neat??
I got out a Sizzix die "birds and branches" I haven't used in more then 2 years....
added a little bird house....
(do you suspose those birdies know they are waaaaaaay too big for the house?)

The background is one of my new background stamps I find myself "collecting"
I bought a mega acrylic block I am showing, as I love it

it's pricey ($25), but these stamps are HUGE....they cover a complete A-2 card
the stamps are from Impression Obession and are around $11 to $12 each....
they are so worth it....

I have been buying a couple a month,as I figure if I put the money out for the block,
I was going to have to stamps to use with it.....
I will share more of these background stamps with you in the next few days or so!!

Long May She Wave

This week at "Simply Less Is More" it is a color challenge
Red~White~Blue
I have had this stamp forever...
it has to be one I purchased at least 10 years ago....
the print of the name of it is so small I can't read it....
I decided to turn it into a flag of sorts....

the God Bless America is another "oldie"....
it is one of those stamps that is a square and has a stamp on each side.....
hope you like it.....
I have a second post today, too...
take a peek!!

Aqua

I came across a "new" to "me" challenge called "Papercraft Star"
the challenge was "Aqua"....
I have mentioned several times before I have a drawer full of punched~stamped~cut
things that I need to use up....
I decided to grab a little basket and put all the "Aqua" things in it I could find
and create my project from that.

Well, to my surprise, I had very little "aqua" in that stash....
I did however have the white vellum butterfly left over from another project....
and the stamped image is one I did along time ago by using glossy cardstock
and inking it, then stamping with a bare stamp to remove some of the ink...
this was a practice piece, so I am using it....(yeah)
Also a few weeks back on the Gina K stamp TV, she had a video of
inking your Cuttlebug folders to make a beautiful background.....
I have seen this before, but never had the nerve to ink up my folders....

after the way this one turned out, I want to now ink them all...lol...
I just wiped it off with a baby wipe when I was done....
so, that is how this card came about......oh.....the little flower brad...
it just dropped oout of somewhere, so I added it too
:>)
